The ESD Okayama Award has recognized outstanding ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) activities undertaken in Japan and abroad every year since its establishment in 2015. Besides showcasing good ESD practices in the world, it also aims to further advance the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) since ESD is a key enabler of the achievement of all the targets.
This year, we received 157 submissions from around the world, the largest number in the eight years since the beginning. Various ESD and SDGs activities are conducted in the world despite the unstable social conditions such as wars and conflicts and the continued difficulties from the COVID-19 pandemic.
As a result of the preliminary screening, the following 10 projects were selected as finalists for the ESD Okayama Award 2022. One or two project(s) will be selected out of the ten by the judges at the final selection. The winner(s) will be posted in our website in early November.
