Amazon Forever is a non-profit organization based in Iquitos, Peru; since 2016, it has developed educational programs on biodiversity and sustainable development that encourage the local community, especially children, to engage in the conservation of the Amazon. The Amazon is crucial to the global climate balance, but there is a lack of adequate environmental education, putting the ecosystem at risk. To tackle this problem, the "Huayo Method" (Huayo = fruit in Quechua) was created. It is an innovative approach that combines inspiring stories, playful activities, and direct contact with nature, respecting local knowledge transmission and the connection with the forest. Its aims are to provide comprehensive and contextualized environmental education to children in the Amazon, to train teachers, and to promote sustainable awareness and practices among the population.
