Introducing the schemes of the Okayama ESD Project.

Purpose

The Okayama ESD Project contributes to the broad-based development of sustainable society by strengthening the cooperation among organization engaged in various ESD activities in order to effectively promote ESD according to the characteristics of the Okayama region.

The United Nations University approves regions engaged in this project as “RCE Okayama.” Okayama City is the only region appointed as RCE now. More regions will be approved when surrounding municipalities associate with the project.

    The Okayama region was acknowledged as RCE by the United Nations University

*DESD (stands for United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development) is a set of approaches by the United Nations toward the government of each country in order to enhance education and international cooperation for the implementation of sustainable development.

Framework

Okayama ESD Promotion Commission

Okayama ESD Promotion Commission is a policy maker of the Okayama ESD Project which has Steering Board and Research Council. It consists of ESD-related educational institutions, citizens’ groups, enterprises, administrations and media organizations.

Designated Organizations

The organizations which have been designated by Okayama ESD Promotion Commission. They understand the purpose of the project and engage in ESD activities, such as providing training courses and exchanging information among instructors.
